General procedures for reserve request submissions

Articles and other materials intended for non-commercial educational use by all students in a class may be placed on electronic reserve or in-library reserve at the library. Materials will only be placed on reserves at the request of the faculty member, course instructor or course designer. Requests will be processed in the order of receipt. Regis Library will make every effort to accommodate requests for electronic course reserve and in-library reserve but may need to restrict inclusion of materials for copyright reasons. According to fair use guidelines, reserve readings are meant to supplement course text materials, not supplant them. We will make every effort to process your requests and have materials posted as soon as possible.

General procedures for reserve request submissions:

  • To ensure availability for the first day of class, request forms should be submitted two weeks prior to class start. Note: Please allow extra time (4-6 weeks) to obtain copyright permissions from the Copyright Clearance Center and Publishers.
  • A separate form must be submitted for each class. Forms are available online. We no longer accept paper forms at the Access Services Desk.
  • Instructors can set up an e-reserve and an in-library reserve per course; however, duplicate materials cannot be made available in both.
  • Requests must include complete citations for each item (for articles: author, article title, journal title, volume, issue number, date, page numbers; for books excerpts: author, chapter title, book title, publisher, date of publication).
  • Please do not inform students that materials are available on reserve until you have received confirmation by the Access Services Staff.
  • We encourage faculty, course instructors and course designers to submit a new form when adding additional materials to a reserve course that is already active. This ensures quality control.
  • Instructor’s personal materials will be returned as soon as possible. The library is not responsible for lost and damaged items. The library will be affixing barcodes and reserve labels to all in-library reserved items.
