To capture the beacon signals, you need to install a Physical Web Browser application. We recommend the PHY.net Physical Web Browser from BKON Connect. The free, lightweight app is available for Android and iOS
After installation, make sure to allow permission for the app to use your location when you first open it. You will also need to enable Bluetooth if not already enabled on your phone.
Use the map to find the locations of the beacons on each floor of Dayton Memorial Library. In total, there are currently 5 beacons used for the tour.
When you open the PHY: Physical Web Browser app, it will automatically scan the vicinity for beacons. To refresh, swipe down on the screen, or click the teardrop shaped icon in the upper right corner. The proximity settings for each beacon have been set so that you’ll need to be within about 10-15 feet of the beacon to capture the signal. Each beacons sends a notification with a link to videos or web pages with information about the specific location. Enjoy the tour!
