Dungeons and Dragons and Moral Panic (4pm // DML 112)

When is a game not just a game? In 1974 a rather niche title was released by the name of Dungeons and Dragons. Part of the emerging genre of role-playing games, its novelty and subject matter led to it being swept up in larger cultural struggles over music, television, and art.  In the process, it revealed deep cultural beliefs about the communicative power and transformative potential of "mere games."  (Presented by Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys).

Game Night: Let's Get Social!  (6pm // DML Fireside)

Door Prize! Drop in to play some games--one of ours, or your own.  We'll have an assortment of party games, and those dealing with various types of communication as a theme or mechanic.  (Including Apples to Apples, Snake Oil, and Telestrations.)

Whatever it is, if there was ever a time that the world needed to hear your voice, IT'S NOW. In this workshop, author and professor R. Alan Brooks teaches you strategies for overcoming creative fear. Come prepared to be honest and vulnerable, and expect to leave with practical ways to tackle your creative fears!
